<Where Would You Like To Go?> <Her>

It was the movie <Her> directed by Spike Jonze what I have seen when I went to see a movie on my own at first in my life.

At that time, Actually, I was so lonely as much as the main character, Teodore.

He wandered "the random voice chat" to relieve his loneliness at night whenever can’t take a sleep well in bed. So did I, not exactly the same as he did, though. I used to surf the social network services such as Facebook & KaKaoTalk to remind of my past relations that was existed at once in past, but not any longer.

The one most prominent thing in the movie is an artificial intelligence computer called Samantha.(To be honest, I bought a ticket for this movie due to news that an actress, Scarlett Johansson, has been cast. It was true. But most of you already know, only the voice of her was appeared in this movie, not entire appearance. I noticed it after watching the whole movie.)

Coming back to the subject of movie, at first glance, most people may have thought it seems like same as iPhone's Siri or Samsung's S-Voice software in terms of voice recognition function. However, the astonishing capacity & high capability of understanding all the languages of people make it totally different from former one. Its featured function was remarkably developed and advanced than now.

Furthermore it tried to sympathize with her partner's emotion deeply. Perhaps, in the theater people who seeing a scene that Teodore fell in love with Samantha might had been enchanted by her charm rather than treating the main actor as a strange person who crazy about the computer equipped with the function of voice cognition.

This film, which had been thought to be forgotten over the years, was revived again by a short novel <Where Would You Like To Go?>. It is written by Korean author Kim-Ae-Ran. I like her writing style. She is my favorite writer. The novel has a common part with the movie in which intelligence device comforts human's emotion.

The heroine, Myengji, got an unexpected invitation from her cousin while she went through a chaotic time like a nightmare due to death of her husband. During the endless mourning period, she was literally doing nothing, but spending time worthlessly.

After arriving at Britain, she cut all the calls & connections come from Korea and took a deep sleep for a few days in peaceful mind in her cousin's large and gothic brick house. Just like a baby who just got learn how to breathe at the very first. The peace, however, disappeared soon. A loneliness and longing for the last husband came frequently following the repetitive rains. The inclement weather of Britain poured raindrops several times a day.

When she was deep in a mood of melancholy, an assistant app of iPhone, Siri, helped her to be pleased & felt she was not alone. The role of Samantha, which encourages Teodore in the movie <her>, was changed into Siri in this novel as relieving her empty feeling. Even it was not perfectly functioning, though.

A few times it gave her a right answer. But more often, it kept responding in random or wrong way. Its quality was still poor. Whenever it faced some awkward questions or embarrassing words, the only thing it could do was asking her to say the same order again or showing what she found in Google search like this.

"This is the Google search result", "Sorry, I can not answer your question", "I have nothing to say you"

Nevertheless, it was better than people's word. One of Korean liquid company uses this sentence "the realm between people is the most complicated part" in advertisement to indicate difficulty for getting along with someone else. But the device, which is departed from usual people act, at least had a courtesy in treating their owner. Even if it was in a situation getting a question that does not make sense in anyway, It did not complaint at all. And this feature captivated her in novel.

After finishing the novel, I reached to my cellphone and asked an absurd question "You wanna sleep with me?" as the last husband did in the story. S-Voice did not figure out the question's meaning and just showed me a result of Google search disappointedly. Did I expect too much of it? It does not help at me at all.

Most scientists say the days are not too far away from now where sharing our emotions with an artificial intelligence computer or similar electric device. If it's come real, will the way of loving be changed in anyway? Are we going to fall in love with a personal computer customized for our own preference? Or Having two type of love naturally with computer and human at once? Nobody can't make sure about it. Prophecy is always hard and tricky.

But one thing is certain. Everyone will still need love as they are doing currently. Like lyrics of "city of stars" saying. "It's love / yes, all we're looking for / is love from someone else."
